The Pentecostal Resources Group exists to develop, curate, and distribute resources that equip the church for Kingdom progress.
1944 — Present
The PRG Story
1944
PPH Launch
In 1944 the Pentecostal Church Incorporated (PCI) launched its publishing arm, the Pentecostal Publishing House, in conjunction with opening its new headquarters building in St. Louis. In 1945 the PCI merged with the Pentecostal Assemblies of Jesus Christ to form the United Pentecostal Church. The new organization retained the PCI headquarters building and the publishing house.
1946
Editorial Division Formed
In 1946 the UPC formed what would become the Editorial Division to produce the Pentecostal Herald and a limited offering of Sunday school curriculum.
1969
Word Aflame Publications
Recognizing the need for a full line of Apostolic curriculum, in 1969 the church created Word Aflame Publications. Millions of pieces of curriculum have been distributed since its formation.
1975
Word Aflame Press
In 1975 Word Aflame Press became the book publishing imprint of the church. In the last quarter of the twentieth century the publishing ministry of the UPCI grew significantly. During this time period, PPH operated a full service printing business complete with typesetting, prepress, presses, bindery, and fulfillment services. However, technological advances in printing and computer design changed the face of PPH.
1983
The Oneness of God Published
In 1983 Word Aflame Press published The Oneness of God by David K. Bernard. This important work not only remains a best-selling book with over 1.2 million copies in circulation, but it also helped codify the beliefs of the Oneness movement.
2006
Division of Publication
In 2006 all UPCI publishing and resource development entities were consolidated into the Division of Publications. The editor in chief served as the division head. Shortly thereafter, printing, bindery, and fulfillment were outsourced and the footprint of the Division of Publications shrunk.
2014
Apostolic Study Bible Produced
In 2014 Word Aflame Press produced the Apostolic Study Bible. This resource was the first of its kind and included commentary written by numerous Oneness Pentecostal scholars. Continuing to sell thousands each year, this Bible is helping students of Scripture better understand the important message of God’s Word.
2017
Ministry Central Launch
In 2017 PRG launched Ministry Central as the official training platform of the UPCI. It continues to serve as the hub of ministerial training and houses the courses necessary for receiving credentials with the United Pentecostal Church International.
2023
PRG Formed
In response to the changing landscape of publishing and digital media and the growing ministry footprint of the Division of Publications, it was reformulated as the Pentecostal Resources Group (PRG) in 2023. Currently PRG is organized into three teams: resource development, marketing and sales, and operations and finance.
We make every attempt to be true to Apostolic doctrine and lifestyle in all that we do.
Because we are better together, we will make every effort to work collaboratively within PRG, with other ministries at UPCI World Headquarters, and with the broader Apostolic movement.
Because we live in the midst of an information revolution, we embrace change, so we can produce better resources and training in the most effective format.
Because we understand that the resources placed in our hands ultimately belong to God, we commit to being excellent managers of these resources.
We will reflect the character of God in the work that we do and the way we treat others.
We strive for excellence because our processes and resources should reflect the importance of our work.
